Are you anticipating the Joy of Christmas or expecting the stress that often accompanies it? Do your children feel the excitement of decorating and planning
Many families fight about the kids or become bitter and angry at not having the time they desire. It not only ruins the holiday for mom and dad, but it really takes the joy out it for the kids too.
If you could simplify the process … if you could remove the drama … what would Christmas look like for your family? What if you enjoyed the countdown to Christmas instead of feeling like you are running out of time? What would it take to get your family there?
Giving your child a present (gifts) when what they yearn for is time with you (quality time) is like watering a plant with milk. Telling your child how great they are (words of affirmation), when what they long for is a hug, cuddles or wrestling on the floor (physical touch), is like feeding a cat rabbit food.
Move some items off your plate to make room for a relaxed and enjoyable holiday season. You can always pick those things up again next month. Magical moments are available, but you have to be there to experience them.
